Because each dog has their own personality and learning style, I accept them for who they are. I also accept that each dog will learn at their own pace. I will help dog guardians meet their goals by recommending which program and training options best fit their personality, schedule, and environment.
At Bone Worx, I don’t train dogs; I train the guardians who love them. I’ve redefined dog training with classes designed to build confidence and success as your dog masters skills in a simple, step-by-step process.
I utilize only positive dog training methods, which your entire family can quickly master and embrace. You will be actively engaged in the training, working as a team as you learn to communicate more effectively with your dog, and the behavior will naturally transition to life at home.
All dogs can benefit from learning, regardless of age or experience. Whether your pup is starting with the fundamentals, brushing up on previously learned skills, or ready to take on new challenges, my classes can accommodate your needs.
Group or private classes are available to dogs of any size and breed.
An initial 30-45 minute consultation is required to assess your and your dog's needs. I will identify and discuss your training goals and recommend the right setting during this time. Consultation fee is $20.
Private training allows me to work one-on-one with you and your dog. I can help you understand your dog's unique personality, behaviors, and problem areas using behavioral science and applied behavioral analysis.
Private sessions allow us to:

Dogs 12 weeks and up
A good recall is an excellent skill for a dog to have. It allows us to steer our dogs away from dangerous or unwanted interactions, making us feel good when our dogs come when called. Because of the distraction factor, it is a very fancy skill—it’s fun to show off—but that also means it typically takes more time to train than other skills and behaviors.
My goal for this private class is to teach you the foundation skills to increase your dog’s ability to respond to a recall cue and to come away from distractions like other dogs and food. You might not get to the point where your dog will come every time in this short class, but I want you to embrace the class with a solid understanding of how to train a reliable recall and the ability to continue to train at your own pace.
Practicing your homework during the week between classes will significantly help your dog improve their recall ability. Much of the homework is aimed at enhancing reliability around distractions so that during and after this 3-week clinic, you can continue to train your dog to come to you around more challenging distractions.
An initial 45-minute consultation is required to assess the needs of you and your dog. During this time, I will identify and discuss your training goals. Consultation is $20.

Is walking your dog a nightmare?
Has your walk become something you dread instead of something you look forward to? I can change all of that. Walking is one of the most important components of your relationship with your dog. It is your primary opportunity to create the proper relationship through leadership, structure, and impulse control. If your dog is pulling or dragging you on-leash; reactive to other dogs, cars, people, bikes, skateboards, etc., and generally making your daily walk a stressful part of the day, you are undermining your relationship in more ways than one, and causing what should be an enjoyable, fun activity for both of you, to be a dreaded event. It doesn’t have to be that way! If the walk is anything but a pleasurable and relaxing experience, don’t waste another day being frustrated with your dog. With the right tools, strategies, and approach, you can massively improve your walk and your bond with your dog.
Reactive dogs are typically considered dogs who bark and lunge on-leash at other dogs and in some cases, people, kids, bikes, critters, and a variety of other things. These dogs are often not truly “aggressive” dogs but have a hard time controlling themselves in the face of something exciting or potentially scary to them.
I am selective in the cases that I take. Please contact me, and we will discuss your dog’s current behavior and your training needs.
Dogs who are aggressive (dogs whose intent is to harm) or extremely reactive toward humans will be evaluated and may be referred to Doug Duncan MA, CTC, CPDT-KA, CBCC-KA at Doggy Business.
An initial 45-minute consultation is required to assess the needs of you and your dog. During this time, I will identify and discuss your training goals and recommend the right class setting. Consultation is $20.
In the 5th week, we will take a field trip to practice what we’ve learned and apply it to the real world.
This is a detailed and intense 7-week class. We will cover a lot of material each week. If you must miss a class, a make-up class will be required.
Pre-registration, payment, and your dog’s proof of vaccination are required before class begins.
Children under 18 years old are not permitted to join the class.

Communication builds trust – Trust builds a relationship. At Bone Worx, I aim to treat the problem, not just the symptoms. Many behavior problems stem from normal, natural, and often necessary dog behaviors being performed in an inappropriate way. You will learn how to reward the behaviors you want while ignoring your dog (when appropriate) and preventing or redirecting the behaviors you don't want.

Puppy Fundamentals
Dogs 9 to 16 weeks
Lots of training questions often accompany the arrival of a new puppy. My classe allow me to guide you through establishing good routines and habits early on with your new pup. We will also give you simple tools that can be applied to address your puppy’s specific challenges.
Puppies have short attention spans, so a small class setting is the best place to get your puppy to focus. Start training as early as possible. This way, your dog can begin her new life by developing good routines and habits right from the start.
